You can access the great Niagara Falls from both the Canadian and the American side, although the best sight of the falls is wholly from the Canadian side.
The Niagara Falls can be accessed either by the Bus Terminal or VIA Rail Station south of Downtown. There are also semi-regular shuttle buses that drive directly to the Falls. Although the view of the entire falls area is best seen from the Canadian side, the New York Side is best if you really want to be near the water. That would entail taking a short walk over Goat Island.
You must take a ride on the famous Maid-of-the-Mist boats, where you get the entire experience of Niagara Falls. It is best that you bring a waterproof camera along since you are bound to get wet.
The Clifton Hill tourist area is another attraction. It begins at the top of Clifton Hill and pursues a steep hill to the last part of the Falls and here you will find innumerable shops, museums, hotels, motels, and restaurants.
Shoppers can go to a local shopping mall called Niagara Square and you can also go to Optimist Park, where you will find a Walmart and Zehrs (grocery store).
Beware! Rates in the Niagara Falls area are shocking. We suggest that you make it a point to get the best prices for gas, food, and accommodation.
For international travellers crossing the border, don’t forget to carry the correct documents, so that you won’t be delayed for no reason at the border!
Remember that Passports WILL BE required for both American and Canadian citizens but drivers licenses, Social Insurance/Social Security cards, and provincial health cards are NOT sufficient on there own,
We recommend that you get them along with your birth certificate or naturalization certificate.
And lastly, you can book into any of these hotels to make your trip to Niagara a memorable one!
